The Bell AH1 Cobra is a single-engine attack helicopter introduced in 1967. It was the world’s first dedicated armed attack helicopter. Heavily armed, highly maneuverable, and quick, the AH1 proved to be a powerful combatant.

The engine, transmission, and rotor system of the AH1 Cobra were derived from the UH1 Iroquois utility military helicopter. Its precedent-setting design led to many other variations including some two-engine models.
